Angus Campbell, a member of the Montrose Under-16 rugby squad, has been selected to play for the Tayside and Fife.
Following a rigorous selection process and extensive training throughout the summer, Angus started at hooker in the squad’s first game against Central last Sunday.
The game was held at Grangemouth RFC in pouring rain. After a very tight start, the visiting team started to break through the Central defence. At the final whistle, Tayside and Fife ran out 29–0 winners but it was a far closer game than the score suggests.
Angus said “It has been a tough summer with training every Sunday along with specialist training during the week. It has been worth it and, as well as improving my game, I have got to know players from other clubs. I really enjoyed the game and I am looking forward to the next match against North East.”
