Arthur is Hope Paton Champion 2014

Hope Paton Bowling Club Champion for 2014 is Arthur Moir, who defeated John Dempsey in the final.

It was a good contest, with many excellent bowls played, and a long-awaited victory for Arthur.

The three-bowl final was also played, and in it Jim Donaldson defeated Harry Dunn. It was another excellent game.

John Dempsey has reached the final of the Handicap Cup and awaits the winner of the other semi.

The Ladies’ Green Championship finalists are Roseann McLean and Margaret Murray.

Doreen Melvin has reached the final of the Handicap Competition and will play either Roseann McLean or Margaret Murray.

The ladies lost their second-last Angus Ladies League game, going down 28-24 against Forfar’s Canmore side. The final League game will be played this Friday, August 15, at 2 p.m., at home to Montrose BC.

The Mr and Mrs Competition, sponsored by George and Ethel Norrie will be played on Sunday.

The draw is as follows:

10 a.m. Section One - Mr and Mrs Hay, Mr and Mrs Brandie, Mr and Mrs Liddle, Mr and Mrs W. Pirie.

10 a.m. Section Two - Mr and Mrs B. Field, Mr and Mrs A. Melvin, Mr and Mrs K. Morrison, Mr and Mrs G. Barclay.

10.30 a.m. Section Three - Mr and Mrs G. Crighton, Mr and Mrs W. Johnston, Mr and Mrs R. Burke, Mr and Mrs F. Robb.

10.30 a.m. Section Four - Mr and Mrs C. Williamson, Mr and Mrs I. Gordon, Mr and Mrs B. Buist, Mr and Mrs K. Moir.

Games will be played on a round-robin basis, with the top teams going into a knock-out.
