It was another busy weekend of rugby for Montrose teams.

The Minis headed to a festival at Dundee Wasps with teams from Micros, P4/5 and P6/7s. All squads played well and the P6/7s came second in the Fair Play trophy.

Montrose S1/2s took went to Aberdeen to play a strong Wanderers side. The local boys played well and scored five tries. In the end, they lost a closely contested match 26 - 19.

The Montrose Under-15 girls from the Angus Hub joined up with the Kinross hub to take on a Caithness side.

The Caithness girls were on a weekend tour where they went to the Scotland v France and played two matches. The combined side was too strong for the Caithness girls. After an hour of rugby, the Angus/Kinross side had scored eight tries. The Caithness girls scored on the final whistle to give them some reward for their efforts in advance of a long drive north.

At the Scotland v France game at Murrayfield, there was local interest. Izzy Craig, a member of the Micros squad, was a mascot at the game. Izzy’s name was drawn out of a hat and as well as standing with the Scotland team before the match, she received a Scotland strip and hoodie. Izzy also got the chance to meet the players after the match.

This week, the S1/2s are going to Madras and the Under-16s are hosting Kirkcaldy at Union Park.
