BOWLERS in Dundee and Angus will be keeping their eye on the bowl thanks to a new sponsorship deal with the country’s largest optical retailer.
The Angus Bowling Association has secured a five-year deal with Specsavers to support the county’s bowling league and premier Champion of Champions tournament.
As well as a cash boost, the agreement will also see 3,200 ABA members across 30 bowling clubs given exclusive discounts at their local Specsavers stores.
The initiative is being supported by the Specsavers stores in Arbroath, Dundee, Forfar and Montrose.
Ian Rodger, president of the Angus Bowling Association, said: “At a time when it is hard to find money to invest in sport, it is a real feather in our cap to have been able to find a partner like Specsavers.
“Specsavers’ involvement help to fund vital initiatives for both young and disabled bowlers, and our members will be able to access discounted eyecare.”
Jamie Buchan, director at Specsavers Arbroath, added: “Good vision is vital to success in bowls, but as we age our eyes can become more susceptible to certain problems, with Presbyopia, or blurred near vision, affecting everyone sooner or later. Visiting your optician regularly can help diagnose and treat these conditions early, as waiting until a problem is noticeable may be too late.”
