Great day for charity AM-AM

FRIDAY’S charity AM-AM at Montrose Links (see picture on back page), in aid of the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Centre in Dundee, was a huge success, reports organiser Ishbel Weir.

Ishbel added cheerfully: “I haven’t got the total figure counted up as it was the longest day in history!”

Texas Scramble for Heroes

ROYAL Montrose Golf Club held a charity Texas Scramble golf competition at Montrose Links Championship Medal Course on May 13, supporting Help for Heroes.

Forty-seven teams of four players representing nearly 40 golf clubs from all over Scotland took part.

Winners were: 1, CNT Masters, Edzell and Stonehaven, 58.2 points; 2, Driving Miss Fullard, RAF Leuchars, 58.3 bih; 3, The Quoit Boys, Falkirk, 58.3; 4, Pert-Bruce Construction, Montrose, 59.2.

The proceeds from the team entries, along with a raffle and silent auction, raised a fantastic £4,100 for Help for Heroes.

Club captain Michael Cummins said he was absolutely delighted with the response to the competition and the generosity of those who donated prizes.

He added: “A huge thank-you is due to all the teams that took part, as well as prize sponsors, and raffle, cash and silent auction donors. Special thanks are due to club tournament convener Ron Henderson, starter Andy Petrie and all club members who helped out on the day.”
