The Ladies of Montrose Bowling Club held their open pairs competition on Sunday, June 28 where ladies from all over Angus took part.
Although the day started with heavy rain, the start was delayed by just over half an hour and the sun shone for the best part of the day.
The winners were Sheila Wilson and Margaret McNicoll from Laurencekirk.
Sheila has played in this competition for 50 years and to win on the year of her 70th birthday made it just a dream for her.
She was so thrilled to win and was saving a bottle of champagne to share with the Montrose ladies who were playing a cup game with Laurencekirk on July 1.
This is the year for celebrating as Montrose Bowling Club celebrates 50 years for the holding of the Carnie Pairs.
This open competition starts on Sunday, July 19 with the final being held on Friday, July 24 after which a dance will be held and entertainment provided by Jack McPherson.
This competition is open to both ladies and gents and any one who is interested should contact the Montrose Bowling Club for an entry form.
Every one is welcome.
