As you read this another busy open week for us at Montrose Links has come and gone.

As always the course was presented in fantastic condition and the quality of golf on show was fantastic!

A big thanks to Barr Demolition as our title sponsor whose support is much appreciated.

Our three clubs will also have had a busy week and welcomed back some regular visitors and greeted many new friends. Hopefully they can take many a good golfing story back to their own club.

A very busy spell to on the European tour with the Scottish open and of course the open championship, both Royal Aberdeen and Hoylake can be proud of the events they hosted and there were very worthy winners in Justin Rose and a fantastic wire to wire victory for Rory Mcilroy, only 25 a has already collected three of the majors. Will anyone bet against him going down magnolia lane in 2015?

Look back at Hoylake here:

On the eve of our open I was delighted to host a clubgolf camp for nine to 11 year olds here at Montrose and for four hours a day five days of the week we put the youngsters through their paces. The youngsters were a real credit to themselves and you never know another Rory is just around the corner.

Not long now till the biggest show in town, and as the build up gathers momentum the European team is looking as if a good few rookies will make the team however the big question is will tiger tee it up for the USA, just back from injury and showing no form he may need to rely on a pick. Will Tom Watson be brave enough to pick him or will the USA team tee up without him? Either way the event will be awesome. Bring it on!

Next time I will talk about our Montrose open in more detail and the value of coaching in the winter months and working over the close season to improve.

Happy Golfing!
