Montrose S1s and Angus girls rugby were invited to take part in the Sevens Festival as part of the IRB World Sevens at Scotstoun in Glasgow.
Both teams were representing Tayside and Fife, competing against teams from across Scotland.
The S1 boys played in the morning and started with a win against Aberdeen Grammar. They then drew with Birkmyre and lost against Edinburgh BATS.
The girls beat Langholm and Biggar to make it into the semi-final against Hillhead Jordanhill.
This game went to the final minute with both teams on three tries each. Hillhead Jordanhill made a break to score in the final play of the match.
Caroline Campbell, Montrose coach, said “Both teams played really well and to have only lost to the eventual winners in each group is a reflection of our players’ hard work throughout the season. It was a great honour to be asked to take part in the festival and our players really enjoyed being part of such a prestigious event. To have senior players from across the world training and playing on the neighbouring pitches was amazing.”
