MONTROSE Bowling Club was honoured on Saturday to be host to the final of the Andrew Hamilton Trophy, one of Scotland’s most prestigious bowling tournaments.
The Trophy has been in existence for 73 years, but, surprisingly, this was the first time the final had been played in Angus.
Each of the 32 Scottish bowling associations is represented by a team, and matchplay had reduced the field to two by Saturday - Lanarkshire South, and Edinburgh & Leith.
The winners were Lanarkshire South, who comfortably beat their east coast rivals by 130 shots to 108.
The Montrose Club’s Bob Christie expressed his delight at the fact that the event had been played in Montrose, and said it was a tribute to both the town and the area’s contribution to the sport.
