Montrose Academy 10K

THE INAUGURAL Montrose Academy 10K Race takes place this Sunday, June 10, starting at 11am.

In this Olympic year, 2012, the Academy, supported by GSK Montrose, is holding a 10K race and 2K fun run from the Academy Playing Fields.

The Event this year will develop into an annual Health Day which the Academy organizers hope will become a major opportunity for the community and local schools to celebrate the advantages of a healthy life style.

With the new Sports Centre facility to be opened soon the event will focus on the Academy campus and opportunities for all ages in Montrose to enjoy excellent sporting facilities and opportunities and promote these to Academy pupils, parents and carers.

All are welcome to support and participate in the race and fun run or follow the 10K course on Sunday.

In future years, participants and organisations may want to use the event to raise money for charity and this year’s event will help the organisers to prepare for its expansion and development in future.

Depute Head Teacher, Bruce Pandrich said that the Academy is committed to promoting the benefits of exercise as part of the commitment to the new curriculum and in particular the focus on health and wellbeing as part of a rich and well rounded learning experience for the future.
