Montrose athlete Gregor MacLean will be competing in the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games this Friday (August 1)

The 22-year-old pole vaulter will be jumping at 6.10 p.m. in the Commonwealth Games pole vault final.

Gregor also set the Scottish Indoor Record for pole vaulting in January at 5.4 metres in Orleans, France.

This all comes a year after he broke his leg, which hampered his chances of jumping in the 2013 outdoor season.

Gregor heads in to the final of the home games with a 5.45m personal best, which he set this year.

He made headlines back in 2011 when he broke the Scottish national pole vault record whilst competing as an under-23 in Finland, raising the record from 5.22m to 5.30m.
