Montrose Tennis Club served up another big day at its season opening last month.

A large turnout of members were present to welcome Ian Conway, president of Tennis Scotland, who presented club president John Stirling with Tennis Scotland’s Place to Play 2013 award.

On the opening day, there were demonstration matches from three leading Scottish players – Jonny O’Mara, Scottish number 4, Nicholas Rosenzweig, Scottish number 5 and Bruce Strachan, ranked number two in the Scottish North County.

Also, it was announced that Montrose Tennis Club (MTC) is to hold its own LTA approved tournament called the North Angus DC Lighting Tennis Tournament, which will be held from June 27 to 29.

The club caters for all levels and ages of player, whether social or competitive.

Club coach Graeme Walker helps provide a thriving active schools programme, all-year competitive play and coaching from beginners to first division players.

This season, Kris Soutar, LTA master performance coach, will hold a coaching programme for the junior team players.

Club details and the Easter camps for all school age pupils can be found on the club’s websit – www.montrosetennisclub.org – and also on their Facebook page.
