Montrose and District Athletics Club held an opening ceremony of its new all-weather track area at Montrose Sports Centre during the Commonwealth Baton Relay Celebrations.
Paul Duncan, the architect who designed the facility cut the ribbon in front of athletes, coach Colin Christie and councillor Bill Duff.
Angus Council installed the new facility with financial support from Sportscotland and £35,000 from the club, which came from a £5,000 Community Award from Angus Council, £20,000 from the Montrose Common Good Fund and £10,000 through fund-raising and support from local businesses.
The new facility boasts a 100 metre three lane track area for sprints and hurdles, a high jump run up, pole vault run up and new triple-jump and long-jump pit. It also benefited from floodlighting, allowing the facility to be used all year round.
