MONTROSE Golf Links Ltd has taken over the running of the pitch and putt course, and will mark its opening with a ‘Minis Open’ on Saturday (April 28).
Players aged nine and under, who are members of any of the local clubs, are invited to take part, checking in at 11.45am for the start of the competition at noon.
Alan Crowe, chairman of the Links, paid tribute to Angus Council for its help with the transfer of the course to the committee.
It was previously operated by Angus Council, which owns the land on which it is situated.
The Links have now been granted an extended lease and Angus Council has given assistance with setting up new tees.
A number of other improvements have also been made to greens and other features.
The pitch and putt course is adjacent to the South Links Caravan Park, and it has always been popular with holiday-makers.
Chairman of the 450 committee, David May, commented: “This is another aspect of what we are doing as part of our 450 year of celebration and it is great news for tourism as well as aspiring golfers.”
