Last weekend, six of the Angus Girls’ Rugby Hub formed part of the east of Scotland squad that went to Glasgow for an U15 game against west of Scotland. The day was hosted by Hillhead and Jordanhill, and the girls played some excellent running rugby in a very competitive match.

The East team was captained by Shona Campbell from Montrose and included five other Angus players: Alicia Forbes, Molly Lindsay, Morgan Thompson, Naimh Feigan and Sarah Kelly.

Caroline Campbell, Angus Hub coordinator and Girls’ Pathway coach, said: “This is the first time many of the girls have had competitive game time and they equipped themselves very well. It is important that they get the opportunity to put their skills from training into a match.

“I am really pleased with the way the whole team played and, as a young U15 squad, many have another year or two in this age group.”

The Angus Girls’ Rugby Hub offers training to girls from P3 to S4. They train every Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Union Park, Montrose, and newcomers are very welcome. The U15 Angus squad heads to Edinburgh next month to take on the RHC Cougars. If anyone is interested in girls’ rugby, they should contact Caroline on 07932 045480 or girls@montroserugby.com.
