The JUNIOR sector of Montrose Rugby is winding up for the Christmas break.
Last weekend saw the Puppet Gang putting on a show and party for the primary school aged players. Those of secondary school age all went to Roo’s Leap with their coaches.
The First XV is taking on Stobswell from Dundee this weekend. To celebrate the last game before the festive season, there will be Christmas carols afterwards, led by ‘Reverend’ Oakley.
John Simpson, junior coach and committee member, said: “We have had a great start to the season at the club. There are now over 100 junior members and we have new match strips and sponsors for every age group, including the seniors.
“The First XV is rebuilding and we are looking forward to the next half of the season. Across the club, we have a great group of volunteers, encouraging our players and creating a fantastic atmosphere for everyone who comes to Union Park.
“In January, we will be training at all age groups and the Under-18s and Under-16s will conclude their league fixtures in advance of the Cup.”
The club will hold a Burns Supper and ceilidh on January 26 in Hillside Hall.
Training for the Micros, Minis and S1/2s will start on January 6. The Under-16s and Under-18s will start the second half of the season with a training camp at Lathallan School on the same day. Senior training will restart on Tuesday, January 8.
