MONTROSE Rugby Club 1st XV travelled to Forfar to take on the Strathmore 2nd XV.
From the start, the Montrose team dominated the opposition, playing strong, off-loading rugby. The final score saw Montrose win 40-3.
On Sunday, the Under-16s played Hillfoots in the league. By half-time, the Montrose team was up 37-0 and the game was stopped early in the second half when the points differential exceeded 50 points.
Ross Adam, Montrose Under-16 captain, said: “The training during the week clearly worked and our body positions at breakdowns were much better than last week. Also, the commitment from both forwards and backs was just what we wanted.
“We are delighted with a 56-5 win but we know that we still have a lot to work on.”
A full Montrose Under-18 squad assembled at Union Park on Saturday, only for Blairgowrie Under-18s to call off at the eleventh hour.
While disappointing, this gave the coaches an opportunity to have a targeted training session with the players to work on specialist skills.
This coming Saturday, the Under-18s travel to Falkirk.
