Wind causes issues for Montrose Sailing Club

Have your say

Why is it that sailors are never satisfied by the wind? It’s either too much or too little.

Saturday was scheduled as the Novices’ Regatta, with the plan being to have three races, with two to count.

The first race passed uneventfully with initial leads maintained, and no great surprises.

Results: 1, Pico, Patrick Kinnear; 2, Topper, Jade Clark; 3, Kestrel, Ian and Anne Hourston (and Paul Clark); 4, Mirror, Cara Roberts.

After a break for warming drinks and sausage rolls the second race was waved off, but owing to a dropping wind and strongly ebbing tide, the Race Officer was forced to fly the abandonment flag.

The overall winner of the 2014 Novices’ Regatta was Patrick Kinnear in a club Laser Pico.
