Arbroath’s Alan Soutar is aiming to make his mark at this year’s William Hill World Darts Championship.

The 2021/22 running of the tournament got underway on Wednesday night with Soutar amongst those chasing a total of £2.5million in prize money.

He will take on Brazilian Diogo Portela in his first round match on Sunday in front of the Sky Sports TV cameras.

Should Soutar win his opening match, he’ll face Mensur Suljovic on Thursday, December 23 in the third round at the famous Alexandra Palace.

For the first time in almost two years, a full crowd will be inside the iconic Ally Pally venue to witness the world's biggest darts event.
