Revenge five times over for Merpro

Merpro welcomed Lowson on Premier League action to Broomfield on Saturday.

Lowson had beaten Merpro in the League Cup earlier in the season and had been enjoying a successful league campaign.

The opening goal was in 13 minutes after good wing play by Rausch allowed Scott Graham to collect in the box to fire in a 12-yard shot, parried high into the net by ‘keeper Munro.

The second goal arrived after tenacious play from Greig allowed Graham to clip a deft pass into the path of the galloping Jordan RAUSCH He collected inside the box to drill a low drive into the corner of the net from 16 yards.

Merpro almost gifted Lowson an opportunity in 38 minutes when a loose pass allowed Fletcher to close in on goal but good work by Duff and Whyte thwarted for a corner kick.

Merpro went further ahead in 60 minutes. Riach fired in a 25-yard free kick which came back off the bar for the alert Campbell BRUCE to latch on to and drill a left foot effort back at goal, taking a slight deflection into the back of the net.

Lowson rarely threatened in the second half but almost snatched a goal back when a long ball fell for Farquharson to shrug off a challenge. He lobbed at goal but an super outstretched save from Lownie saved the home side.

Merpro went further ahead in 65 minutes when Jordan RAUSCH robbed a defender to run in, rounding the ‘keeper, to slot home from an acute angle.

Lowson refused to buckle and began their best spell. Whyte saved Merpro with some excellent defending, blocking three rebound close range shots in the box.

The Forfar side clawed a goal back with a 20-yard edge-of-the-box wonder strike from Smith after a deflected clearance fell for him in 76 minutes.

Merpro finished the scoring in 85 minutes after a Christie curled effort was blocked; he collected the rebound to set up the supporting Stewart TURRIFF on the left wing to curl - a fine low 18-yard shot into the corner of the net.
