Tony holds off his heavier opponent

The last Tuesday Points race on May 17 had two Lasers, a Solo and an Enterprise on the line in a gusty westerly wind at Forfar Sailing Club.

Tony Walker and Jordan Sutherland in the Enterprise had a good start, followed by Jim Green in his Solo after Tony Cook and Graeme Knox were shown a recall by race officer Sally Heron for being over the line at the start.

A three-boat squabble ensued up the first beat as the Lasers descended on and tried to pass the Enterprise.

However, it was only on the plane on the next leg they finally cleared to have a fierce fight themselves.

Tony Walker must be wondering where some of his pace has gone as he then seemed to slow down and was tailed fairly closely by Jim, whose form in stronger winds is improving radically, for the rest of the race.

Tony Cook, however, lost none of his pace and, despite regular stronger patches of wind, held off his heavier opponent when Graeme should have capitalised.

Tony Cook was first overall, followed by Graeme, Jim and Tony Walker.

There was no more racing that week.

On Thursday, potential new members arrived to try the waters and unfortunately weekend training for new sailors was cancelled due to gale force winds. This now scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, June 11 and 12.
