THE GSK Retired Staff Association enjoyed a Burns Supper at the Links Hotel on Tuesday.
Eighty-two members attended and were welcomed by the chairman, George Stewart.
The Selkirk Grace was said by Jean Cuthbert and the ‘Chieftain’ was piped in by James Henderson.
It was carried by John Henderson.
Kip Fraser then addressed the haggis with characteristic gusto.
A Burns meal followed, with the addition of savoury mince to the traditional haggis, neeps and tatties.
The meal concluded with tea or coffee and shortbread.
The company joined together and sang ‘Ye Banks and Braes o’ Bonnie Doon’ and ‘The Star o’ Rabbie Burns’.
After the singing of ‘Auld Lang Syne’, a vote of thanks was proposed by a member of the Club, Alan Pirie.
“But brightly beams aboon them a’
The Star o’ Rabbie Burns.”
