End of season high for society

THE MONTROSE and District Choral Society finished their recent season on a double high.

Their Spring Concert, Songs from the Shows, in Old and St Andrew’s Church was very well received by an appreciative audience.

Songs from Carousel, South Pacific and Cats were balanced by old favourites ‘All in the April Evening’, ‘We’ll Gather Lilacs’ and ‘Goin’ Home’.

Riding high, the choir fulfilled an invitation received almost a year ago to entertain at East and Old Church’s Guild in Forfar last Wednesday. This was the Guild’s final meeting of their season and it took the form of a social evening with the Choral providing the entertainment. Both the audience and choir thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

As 2011 will be the 60th anniversary of the choir, which was formed in 1951 to celebrate the Festival of Britain, it looks forward to another exciting season.
