OVER 50 of Angus’ artists, crafts-people and designer/makers came from every corner of the county last Tuesday to launch the Angus Open Studios Directory.

The launch was attended by participants from Kirriemuir, Forfar, Brechin, Carnoustie, Monifieth, Arbroath, and many smaller towns, villages and glens.

Chairperson Fran Marquis told people about how Angus Open Studios had been organised in only five months complete with fully functioning website. It has attracted over 50 artists and over 6,000 directories have been printed for distribution.

Angus’ first ever Open Studios Directory contains information on all of the studios that will be open to the public. The directory also features pictures that have been chosen by each participant to showcase their work. There is work included by people as diverse as glass art and ceramics, felting, a specialist in cane furniture restoration and will prove to be the indispensable guide to art and craft in Angus for the whole year.

The Angus Open Studios project is a unique opportunity to visit the studios of these talented people and experience their creativity first hand. From May 26 to 30 artists from across Angus will open the doors of their studios and galleries in the largest celebration of arts and crafts Angus has ever seen. The Open Studios website and directory will be available all year round for galleries, visitors and possible buyers to use even after the main event has passed. All of this has been created by a hard working team of volunteers determined to raise the profile of Angus’ flourishing arts and crafts scene.
