Angus Writers’ Circle has been celebrating a run of writing successes for its members.

Children’s writer, Elizabeth Frattaroli, was shortlisted last month for The 2014 Greenhouse Funny Prize.

Elizabeth who is a regular member of the group, was delighted that her book ‘The Burp Monster’ made the shortlist along with six other authors. Her hysterically funny children’s book competed for the prestigious prize which was eventually won by fellow children’s author Swapna Haddow.

Short story fiction writer, Sandra Ireland has also been celebrating literary success.

Sandra’s short story ‘The Desperation Game’ won the Scottish Arts Club Short Story Competition last month.

Sandra was presented with a trophy, £300 and signed copies of Alexander McCall Smith’s books by the author himself at the Scottish Arts Club annual garden party in August.

The Angus Writers’ Circle meets on the first and third Wednesday of every month from 7.30 to 10 p.m. in the Rosely Hotel, Arbroath. New members are always welcome.
