CHRIS Longmuir, winner of the 2009 Dundee Book Prize and long time member of the Angus Writers’ Circle was the speaker at the Circle’s meeting last Wednesday.
She started by creating editorial teams. The exercise was designed to show how publishers process submitted work. After a short period each team in turn described how they had treated the sample manuscripts. After discussion all members understood more clearly how difficult it could be for authors.
Chris said: “No publisher will accept a manuscript that does not follow the guidelines laid down. There are standard rules for every manuscript, but authors must also follow guidelines laid down by the target magazine.”
