MONTROSE Music Festival committee is still looking to recruit new members at leadership level following the departure of chairwoman Lynda Paton and vice-chairman Nomie Braes.
Following the recent article in the Review the committee received a few notes of interest in assisting it in progressing plans for next year’s event which, Mrs Paton said, it was delighted to receive and has followed up.
But members are still looking for two individuals with leadership qualities and business experience to head up the event.
The festival achieved charitable status earlier in 2011 and with this comes responsibilities that require clear leadership. While the existing committee members bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, there is a need to increase capacity and leadership for what is a growing venture. The event has gone from strength to strength over the last four years, with thousands of people flocking to Montrose to attend the weekend event.
The committee is therefore looking for people with leadership skills, business acumen, enthusiasm, motivation, and considerable time to devote to the running of the festival on a voluntary basis.
A committee spokeswoman said: “This is an exciting opportunity for the right individual. Membership of the committee brings great rewards. It is hard work and takes time, but it is worthwhile for the calibre of the events that the committee puts on each year.”
