LOCAL music fans are in for a treat in August, courtesy of the Montrose Music Festival committee, with a return visit by The Fortunate Sons
Under the festival banner, the event favourites will take to the stage with what promises to be another energetic performance as part of their album launch tour.
The acoustic blues/rock band from Glasgow will perform an exclusive gig at the Links Hotel on Friday, August 19, at 8pm. The group have become firm favourites with the Montrose crowd and whenever they perform in town they get their audience on their feet and create a buzz stemming from their great musicianship and dynamism.
They will be supported by Jill Jackson who performed recently to great acclaim in the town hall alongside festival headliners Skerryvore. A Scottish singer-songwriter and guitarist, Jill’s material includes rock, folk and alternative country. She has been described in the Nashville press as the ‘Scottish songbird’ and she scored two top-ten hits as the lead singer of rock band Speedway in 2004.
A committee spokeswoman said: “The Fortunate Sons are an absolute favourite with the committee and with music audiences in Montrose, and they tell us that they love to perform to the Montrose audiences. We’re thrilled to welcome them back for what will be a very special gig. Jill Jackson was hugely popular when she performed here for the festival and we’re expecting the gig to sell out quickly. It’s great to be able to attract this calibre of performers to Montrose on a regular basis.”
Further information is available on the festival website at www.montrosemusicfestival.co.uk and tickets, costing £12, are available now from the Links Hotel and the Park Hotel and limited numbers area available.
