Singing workshop

ANGUS Folk has organised its latest singing workshop which will take place on Tuesday, April 19 in the Kirriemuir Old Parish Church Hall.

The workshop with Steve Byrne will run from 7 to 10 pm.

Steve Byrne is a well-known singer, song-writer, composer, arranger and producer of traditional music and song. He graduated from Edinburgh University’s School of Scottish Studies and worked as the Traditional Arts Officer for the City of Edinburgh Council for five years.

Steve is best known as a founding and current member of Malinky but has also worked with Emily Smith, Deaf Shepherd, Jim Malcolm, John Morran, Fred Morrison and Julie Fowlis. His beautiful solo C.D., Songs from Home, a project of Angus songs and poems set to his own original music, helped nominate him as best Scots singer in the Scots Trad Music Awards in 2006 and 2009.

Steve is an experienced folk music tutor and workshop leader, having taught in the U.K, Romania and Canada. He has been a tutor for Angus Folk in the past and the group look forward to learning more songs from him.
