Steamie celebrations

SCOTLAND’S most loved play - The Steamie - is celebrating it’s 25th anniversary this year.

You can join in the celebrations as the 25th anniversary tour stops off at the Caird Hall, Dundee from Tuesday, April 3 to Saturday, April 7.

It’s Hogmanay in a Glasgow wash house, and the girls need to get their washing done before the bells.

Join Dolly, Magrit, Doreen and Mrs Culfeathers as they laugh and cry their way through the last day of the year - with a little help for the not so handy Andy.

First performed in May 1987, The Steamie has delighted and entertained audiences all over the world.

A television version was made by Scottish Television for Hogmanay 1988. It gained immediate popularity, and has been repeated many times over the years.

It starred Dorothy Paul, Eileen McCallum, Katy Murphy, Sheila Donald, Faye Milligan and Peter Mullan. A novelisation, also by Roper, was published in 2005.

Writer Tony Roper directs this new anniversary touring production - get you tickets now before it sells out!
